Find a family, a Syrian toddler traversing the desert alone

MarwanDDHK News, Syria - A four-year-old Syrian boy who was found walking through the desert between Syria and Jordan has been reunited with his mother.

The boy, named Marwan, was separated from his family when he fled Syria. He was found by UN workers on Sunday (16/2/2014), carrying a plastic bag containing his belongings.

They took Marwan across the Jordanian border and managed to find his mother a day later.

A photo of Marwan when he was found was shared on social media after an official of the United Nations refugee agency in Jordan posted it on Twitter.

“This is Marwan, 4 years old, who is separated from his family. He was accompanied by UNHCR staff to cross the border, ”Andrew Harper, UNHCR's representative for Jordan, said on Twitter on Sunday, as quoted bbcindonesia.com.

According to the United Nations, some 2,5 million Syrians, including one million children like Marwan, have fled their homes due to the civil war.
