Covid-19: Macau Records Its 48th Case

DDHK.ORG - After 6 months passed without additional Covid-19 cases and staying at 46, since January 22, 2021 Macau has recorded 2 more new cases. On Friday, February 5, the former Portuguese colony recorded its 48th case.

"There is one confirmed case of COVID-19 in Macau. The patient is a Macau national, Portuguese nationality, aged 30 years. He arrived in Macau on January 21 on an Air Macau flight and was sent to quarantine, ”it said Macau Canal TDM, via Breaking News on its official Facebook page.

Previously, he had tested negative three times for the coronavirus, once positive for an antibody test for Covid-19, and another negative test for antibodies. That means, he may already be infected or be in the middle to the last stages of illness.

Because of this, he was sent to undergo isolation in a public hospital. "The man was again tested for Covid-19 and the test is now 'weak positive' according to the authorities. This patient is in quarantine and traveling with his girlfriend. So he (his girlfriend) was also sent into isolation because he was considered a close contact. Both are in stable condition. The patient has no symptoms, ”wrote TDM.

Previously, on January 22, 2021, Macau also recorded its 47th case. The resident who tested positive was a 43 year old woman.

“He flew from Dubai to Singapore and then on to Tokyo, before boarding one of two Air Macau flights carrying 109 residents back on January 21. The woman was taken to hospital and the eight people she had contact with are now in isolation in Alto de Coloane, ”wrote TDM.

Health authorities stated that the woman was a case without symptoms. The woman stayed in England from November 22 to December 23 to take care of family matters. He then traveled to Dubai, where he stayed from December 24 to January 19.

On January 19, the woman received a negative COVID test report and flew on Singapore Airlines. Upon arrival in Singapore, he remains at the transit hotel. Finally, the woman traveled to Macau on Air Macau flight NX867 and arrived on January 21, 21:18.
