DDHK News, Indonesia - Disaster Management Center Dompet Dhuafa ((DMC DD) supports the operation of public kitchens that have been established by the Cianjur Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and the community, responding to landslides.
Public kitchens operate in refugee camps located at the Sukamahi Village Hall, Sukaresmi District, Cianjur Regency, West Java.
"All the workers who cook the soup kitchen are volunteers and the community. He also said that at the opening of the soup kitchen, officers would move quickly to distribute food to residents who had fled due to landslides. Local governments are also committed to prioritizing disaster management so as not to cause casualties or starvation.
"We provide hundreds of packaged rice, apart from the landslide victims also volunteers," he said.
From the monitoring of the DMC volunteer team Dompet Dhuafa, this land shift occurred since last Wednesday (28/1), until now it has damaged 86 housing units, 22 of which were heavily damaged.
Not only houses, land shifting has knocked down a number of public facilities. The 200-meter long Regency road that connects Sukaresmi District with Cikalongkulon has collapsed. A total of 93 family members or 363 people had to take refuge at the Sukamahi Village Hall. (Dompetdhuafa.org). *
