DDHK News, Palestine - - Gaza Food Bank program initiated Dompet Dhuafa (DD) mid-2013 provided benefits to residents in the Gaza Strip, Palestine. About 70 poor families, widows, and orphans regularly benefit from the Gaza Food Bank.
Based on an April 2014 report from the Palestinian Welfare House Association (PWH), partner Dompet Dhuafa there, about 140 rabbits are delivered every two months.
"Each family gets 2 rabbits in addition to getting 5 kilograms of rice and 3 liter bottles of sesame oil," said the Manager of Social Development Dompet Dhuafa, Nugroho Indera Warman, Tuesday (13/5).
Nugoroho said the Gaza Food Bank was established on a 250 m2 land in the Gaza Jabaliyah area. The Gaza Food Bank aims to support endurance (resilience) residents through the revitalization of the damaged livestock sector.
The idea of the presence of the Gaza Food Bank was motivated by the paralyzed condition of the Palestinian joints, especially the Gaza Strip due to Israeli military attacks which seem to never stop. As a result, there was an embargo in Gaza so that food logistics supplies were hampered. This has made the lives of the people of Gaza, numbering around 1,5 to 1,7 million, suffer.
Gaza Food Bank is a food self-sufficiency program. Food aid, which is usually in the form of charity, is created into a long-term program. The Gaza Food Bank must be able to provide food logistics for the needs of the people of Gaza from upstream to downstream, from supply to storage to distribution.
