"There are 10 (boards) in Selo, Boyolali Regency, 6 in Kaliurang, Sleman Regency, and 8 in Srumbung, Magelang Regency. The goal is to facilitate the evacuation process if an eruption does occur, ”said Subadar, the DMC Response Team Dompet Dhuafa at the Selo Village Hall, Boyolali, Tuesday (13/5).

He further explained, with the installation of this evacuation route, people living around Merapi must understand that the evacuation route is a route to a safe point (refugee post). This evacuation route board was made for the purpose of direction of where residents would like to evacuate if the eruption occurred.

Apart from installing the signage, DMC Dompet Dhuafa also alerted several volunteers to monitor the progress of Merapi's activities. This was done in order to facilitate coordination when the status from alert increased to alert.

Badar added, even though the intensity of Mount Merapi's volcanic activity has shown a recent decline, residents are asked to remain vigilant. (Dompetdhuafa.org)
