The Enjoyment of Sacrificial Meat in the Middle of Grief

IBU Hamrah (50) never thought that it would be Eid in the middle of an arid oil palm plantation. He and his two sons had to live in a simple blue tent for two weeks because of the flash floods that hit his village. But Alhamdulillah, in the midst of the grief he is currently feeling, he still feels the joy of Eid al-Adha with the volunteers. Dompet Dhuafa.

The Sacrificial Animal Spread Program (THK) in the Masamba area, South Sulawesi, is a special program presented to share sacrificial meat to survivors of the flash flood that occurred on July 13. A total of 29 cows and 9 goats were slaughtered together with the survivors and the meat was enjoyed together at seven refugee points in North Luwu.

"Alhamdulillah, I can still eat beef even though it's not at home. Usually, they rarely eat meat too, ”said Bu Hamrah, who talked about how life is now in the Meli refugee camp.

All of these sacrificial animals come from Sohul qurban in various regions in Indonesia and some even come from Hong Kong. Not all of the sacrificial meats are distributed in the form of raw meat because there are still many refugees who do not have cooking utensils. Therefore, some of the qurbani meat is processed with PKK Kab. North Luwu and the refugees became beef jerky and meatballs so that the meat would last longer for the future needs of the survivors.

Some of the meat is also cooked directly by the Mobile Kitchen team Dompet Dhuafa which serves Eid specialties in South Sulawesi such as Coto Makassar, Konro, Semur Daging, Kapurung, and Meat Parade.

According to the Branch Manager Dompet Dhuafa South Sulawesi, Rahmat HM, this THK program is intended to distribute qurbani meat to areas that are in dire need, including disaster areas such as Masamba.

The flash floods in Masamba were the biggest floods after the flash floods in 1983. This flood caused tens of people to die and hundreds of families had to flee on the mountains. Even now, the rainfall is still very high and the main rivers in Masamba are still filled with rock and sand materials that were carried away by floods some time ago.

One of the parties that shared qurban and donations for the victims of the Masamba floods was the telecommunications company in Hong Kong, SmarTone, and its loyal customers. "We thank SmarTone and loyal customers who have participated in the donation SMS program," said General Manager. Dompet Dhuafa Hong Kong, Imam Baihaqi. [DDHKNews]
