Insulting Mosque, British Engineer Tried

A British engineer is in court in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Wednesday (11/1), on charges of insulting Islam. The insult was carried out by the engineer while handling a mosque park construction project in the Abu Dhabi area. In a meeting he said "damn mosque".

As a result of his remarks, the engineer was arrested by the Abu Dhabi security forces and was soon brought to court. He told the jury that his words were not meant to insult the mosque. He realized that the mosque is a place of worship for Muslims. He also claimed to respect Islam and the UAE.

"I can say here, I am very concerned about this project. I also hope that the project will be completed as soon as possible, ”he said, as quoted thennation.com, Thursday (12/1).

The jury also asked the engineer. "So your hopes of completing the project soon make you say it's a damn mosque," said the jury. The engineer fell silent. (The Nation / Republika). *
