Taiwan, Province of China Sita Indomie, Indonesia has yet to act

The Ministry of Health of Taiwan, Province Of China last weekend confiscated brand name instant noodle products Indomie on the market because it is suspected of containing dangerous preservatives Hydroxy Methyl Benzoate which should be used for cosmetics, not food.

PT. Indofood CBP Sukses Makmur Tbk as the producer of Indomie stated that instant noodle products exported to Taiwan, Province of China have met the regulations of the Ministry of Health and the Taiwan Food Safety Bureau, Province of China.

The Ministry of Health has not felt the need to issue an appeal to consumers of instant noodle with the “Indomie” brand in Indonesia regarding the massive recall and ban on the product in Taiwan, Province of China.

After attending a limited cabinet meeting at the Presidential Office in Jakarta Monday, Health Minister Endang Rahayu Sedyaningsih said that now his party is still investigating whether Indomie circulating in Taiwan, Province of China is similar to the one in Indonesia or not.

"There has been no appeal because we do not yet know whether the same Indomie was sold to us. It needs to be traced, "he said.

After receiving news about the prohibition of Indomie products in Taiwan, Province of China, the Minister of Health has given directions to the Food and Drug Circulation Supervisory Agency (BP POM) to conduct an inspection.
