DDHK News, Hong Kong - Hundreds of Hong Kong Indonesian Migrant Workers participating in the Halaqoh sewing, embroidery, and knitting course on Sunday received certificates, Sunday (5/1), on the 8th Floor, Amar Wanchai Mosque, Hong Kong.
At the event which started at 11.00 am, Haji AD Khan (Welfare Committee Chairman of the Islamic Union of Hong Kong) symbolically handed over certificates to the attending course participants. In his speech which used Cantonese, he hoped that the knowledge and skills that the participants had acquired could be useful.
Course participants who cannot attend the event can take a certificate the following Sunday. Those who receive a participant certificate will be charged a fee of HK $ 5 in lieu of laminating fees.
All courses held by Halaqoh Ahad for BMI are free. These courses include computer courses, English language courses, sewing courses, embroidery courses, and knitting courses.
The course is held every Sunday at the Amar Wanchai Mosque which is divided into two sessions, namely in the morning from 10.00 until entering the Zhuhur prayer and after midday prayer until the time of Asr prayer.
According to the Chairman of Halaqoh Ahad, Choirul Yatim, all these activities are for, by and from Muslims. "So you see, all teachers are from BMI. We provide this activity for BMIs and by BMIs, "said Choirul.
He also hopes that later the course participants will be able to develop their skills and be useful when they return to their homeland.
Risna, a BMI from Blitar, a participant in the embroidery course, said the motivation for participating in this activity was to gain experience.
"I work to look after my grandmother here, sometimes there is a lot of free time when Grandma is sleeping or in the park, so I use that time to make embroidery," he explained.
