DDHK News - A mosque in England took over a Catholic school after it was revealed that 95% of its students are Muslim. The church leaders said that it was no longer appropriate for the Sacred Heart RC Elementary School to have six Christian students.
Ten years ago, more than 90% of these elementary school students were Catholic. But now most students come from Asia, do not speak English as their first language, and adhere to Islam. The school in Blackburn, Lancs, was then handed over to the nearby Masjid-e-Tauheedul.
Harry Devonport of the Children's Ministries Council said the decision to leave the school was made by the Diocese of Salford.
The Tauhid Mosque has been running an Islamic women's secondary school.
Commenting on the takeover of the SHRC school, the head of the school girl, Hamid Patel, said: "Given that almost all students are Muslim, that makes sense."
