DDHK.ORG - The Council of Ukhuwah Islamiyah (MUI) Yuen Long officially has a new board to serve in the 2021-2022 period. The new management is still led by Muawanah, who in the previous period also served as Chair of MUI Yuen Long.
The inauguration of the new management took place on Sunday (12/9/2021) in Yuen Long. The inauguration and reading of the pledge was guided by the General Manager Dompet Dhuafa Hong Kong (DDHK), Usatdz M. Imam Baihaqi, followed and witnessed by 30 Yuen Long MUI administrators and congregants.
On that occasion Ustadz Imam Baihaqi also delivered religious tausiyah with the theme "istiqomah". “Istiqomah is an effort to stay upright and straight in the way of Allah SWT. Someone who is istiqomah will not waver in the slightest," he said.
He also explained that Imam An-Nawani interpreted istiqomah as "remaining in obedience". So, istiqomah means that a person is always in obedience and on the straight path in worshiping Allah SWT.
Ustadz Imam also conveyed several arguments that commanded istiqomah. Among them, the word of Allah SWT in the letter At-Takwir verses 27-28, "Al-Quran it is nothing but a warning to the worlds, (that is) for those of you who want to take the straight path (istiqomah).”
Another argument, as contained in the letter Gud verse 112, "So istiqomah as you (Muhammad) were ordered along with those who repent with you, and do not transgress. Verily, Allah is All-Seeing of what you do."
He also narrated a hadith of the Prophet Muhammad which was narrated from Sufyan bin Abdullâh ats-Tsaqafi who said: I said, "O Messenger of Allah, tell me in Islam one word that I will not ask anyone after you!" He replied: "Say, 'I believe', then istiqomahlah".
The virtue of istiqomah
Ustadz Imam Baihaqi also conveyed some of the virtues of istiqomah in obedience to Allah SWT. Among them:
First, promised heaven. Allah SWT says:
اِنَّ الَّذِيْنَ الُوْا ا اللّٰهُ اسْتَقَامُوْا لُ لَيْهِمُ الْمَلٰۤىِٕكَةُ اَلَّا افُوْا لَا ا اَبْشِرُوْا الْجَنَّةِ الَّتِيْ
“Indeed those who say: 'Our Lord is Allah' and then they strengthen their position, the angels will descend to them saying: 'Do not be afraid and do not be sad; and make them happy with the jannah which Allah has promised you.” (Surah Fussilat: 30)
Second, deeds that are loved by Allah. Istiqomah is also often interpreted as a consistent practice. Although it is small, but if it is done consistently then it is better. In comparison, many practices but rarely do.
Consistent practice is loved by Allah as in the hadith of the Prophet , "Do something that is right and right for you and the most beloved deed to Allah is a continuous practice even if it's a little". (HR Bukhari)
Third, free from sorrow and worry. As the word of Allah SWT:
لَّذِينَ الُوا۟ ا للَّهُ ا۟ لَا عَلَيْهِمْ لَا
"Indeed those who say: 'Our Lord is Allah', then they remain istiqamah then there is no worry for them and they do not (also) grieve."
Finally, Ustadz Imam conveyed 3 tips for istiqomah. Namely, straighten intentions, understand the meaning of the creed, and start small but consistent. [Virtual] [DDHKNews]
