Ammar Osman Ramju Sadick Mosque, While Tasting the Very Famous Halal Dim Sum

DDHK. ORG - Mosque Ammar Osman Ramju Sadick is in the area Islamic Center Hong Kong. The mosque is located at 40 Oi Kwan Road, Wan Cai, Wan Cai. To get there, you can take the MTR and get off at the station Causeway bay.

After walking about 1 kilometer, a towering building increasingly visible. The buildings are the Ammar Mosque and the Osman Ramju Sadick Islamic Center in Hong Kong.

Located on a side street in Wan Chai, the mosque is flanked by other buildings nearby.

Even though it is located in a densely populated area with buildings and houses, large silver inscriptions are installed on the walls of the building along with Chinese and Arabic characters, making this mosque easily recognizable even from a distance. There is also a digital clock that is used to remind prayer times.

Initially, this mosque was just a small mosque that was built side by side with the tomb. However, as the Muslim population grew, the place began to be used for prayers.

This mosque is the third in Hong Kong. The congregation here are from various countries, including Indonesia. Apart from Indonesia, there are also congregations from Pakistan, India, and other countries. Especially for the congregation from Indonesia, they are seen wearing black caps.

Here can worship as well as taste the culinary specialties of Hong Kong? A visit to this mosque is the right choice because in this area there is a very famous halal Dim Sum.

This mosque was built by the Incorporated Trustees of the Islamic Community Fund of Hong Kong, which is an institution that deals with halal food certification in Hong Kong.

In addition to culinary tours, you can also visit the library and Islamic kindergarten in the mosque.

The building here consists of 8 floors which include Ablution Rooms (a place for ablution) on the 1st floor, Men's Prayer Room (a place for men's prayer) on the 2nd floor, Lady's Prayer Room (a place for women's prayer) on the 3rd floor, Classroom on the 4th floor, Canteen on the 5th floor, Seminar Room and Library on the 6th floor, Islamic Union office on the 7th floor, and Trustee and IYA offices on the 8th floor.

The front stairs only connect the ground floor (reception area) with the 1st floor. Meanwhile, for other floors we have to use the elevator or stairs which are adjacent to the elevator, on the right side of the building.

The Ammar Mosque, which was designed by a native Hong Kong Muslim architect named Osman Ramju Sadick, is used as the headquarters for several organizations that control, supervise, and oversee all Muslim activities in Hong Kong.

Before the Ammar Mosque existed, there were 2 more mosques in Hong Kong that had been built previously, namely the Jamia Mosque in Central Station, then the Kowloon Mosque in Tsim Tsa Tsui.

In terms of building size, the Kowloon Mosque is the largest. The Kowloon Mosque is adjacent to Kowloon Park on Nathan Road. [DDHK News]
