How to Leave Inner Immorality: Nature of Ujub

How to Leave Inner Immorality: Nature of Ujub

DDHK.ORG -- Know that religion has two parts. First, leave the immoral. Second, work on obedience.

Giving up immorality is harder to do than doing obedience because doing obedience is fun to be done by everyone. But leaving lust (immoral) can only be carried out by the shiddiqin (righteous people).

Therefore, Rasulullah SAW said, "People who emigrate properly are people who emigrate from evil (leaving evil). And the real mujahid are people who fight their passions. "

How to leave the nature of ujub

In the previous article How to Leave Inner Immorality: Hasad and Riya, has described how to leave the two mental immoralities, namely the nature of hasad and riya. This time, we will explain how to leave one other mental immorality, namely the quality of ujub.

Ujub, arrogance, and feeling proud of yourself is a liver disease that is very difficult to treat. Ujub is to look at yourself with a glorious and great look, and look at others with contempt.

The sign that appears on the person's utterance is that he always says I like this, I am like the devil's words (to Allah when he did not want to bow down to Prophet Adam AS). At that time he said, "I am better than him (Adam) because You made me from fire and You made me from the ground." (Surah Al-A'raf, verse 12)

Meanwhile, what appears to someone who is in the assembly of the crowd is that he always likes to elevate himself and thinks he is better and more capable than others. He likes to stand out in a conversation and doesn't like it when others reject his views.

An arrogant person does not like it when he is given advice and harsh language when he gives advice to others. Who thinks he is better than others then that person is arrogant.

Instead, let him know that a person who is actually good is a person who is good with Allah and no one knows this problem because he is dependent on "Khatimah" (the end of a person's life). Your intention within you that you are better than others is from sheer ignorance.

You shouldn't look at someone unless you see that he is better with Allah than you. He has several advantages over you.

If you see someone who is younger than you, then you should say (in your heart): "This child has never acted immoral to Allah, while I have committed immoral activities, there is no doubt that he is better than me".

When you see someone who is older than you, then you should say: "This person who worships Allah first than me, there is no doubt that he is better than me."

When you see a pious person, you should say, "This pious person has been given various gifts that were not given to me. He has come to a branch I didn't reach. He knows things I don't know. "

When you see someone who is ignorant then you should say, "This ignorant person is committing immorality to Allah with ignorance, but I am doing immorality along with my knowledge, then Allah SWT will bow to me and I don't know how I will end my life."

When you see someone who is an infidel, then you should say, "I don't know yet, maybe later he will convert to Islam and then he ends his life with" husnul khatimah "(died in a good state or faith) and because he entered Islam he has left. sins, such as the coming out of a hair from bread dough. While I - hopefully Allah will take care of us - may turn into a deviant after receiving guidance, then I will become a kafir and my life will end with "su-ul khatimah" (dying in a disbelieving state). Then these disbelievers on the Day of Resurrection will be gathered together with those who are muqarrabin, while I will be tormented in hellfire. " Nauzubillahi min dzalik.

Arrogant nature will not come out of your heart, unless you know that a person who is actually noble is someone who is noble in the sight of Allah and this problem depends on "khatimah" (the end of one's life). Meanwhile, this case is still unknown. So (if you think like that) your heart will always be afraid of "khatimah", so that you do not dare to raise yourself and are forced to make many suppositions towards other people.

Even though you now believe and have faith in Allah, this situation does not prevent the possibility of changes in your position from taking effect

at a time to come, because Allah has the power to change people's hearts and He can give guidance to whomever He wants. He also has the power to deceive whomever He wants.

Important Hadith about the Dangers of Hasad, Takabur, Riya, and 'Ujub

There are many hadiths concerning the denunciation of the characteristics of hasad, arrogance, riya and 'ujub, but it seems sufficient for you a hadith that has gathered all the meanings regarding these characteristics. Where Imam Abdullah bin Al Mubarak RA has narrated in the book Al Zuhd with his sanad from a man (namely Khalid bin Maadan) who once said to Muaz bin Jabal, "O Muaz! Tell me a hadith that you have heard from Rasulullah SA.W.

Said the hadith (Khalid bin Maadan), then Muaz cried so I thought he couldn't stop. But finally Muaz stopped crying, then Muaz said: I heard Rasulullah SAW had said to me:

"O Muaz! Actually I want to tell you a hadith, if you are able to maintain it, surely it will benefit you on God's side. But if you waste it and do not take care of it, then your blasphemy will be cut off before God on the Day of Resurrection.

O Muaz! Indeed, Allah SWT has made seven angels before he created the heavens and the earth, then he assigned an angel from them to guard the heavenly doors. Then the angel Hafazhah went up, carrying the deeds of a servant that he had done from morning to evening.

The practice has nur like the sun's light, so when the angel Hafazhah who brought the servant's practice to the first heaven, they thought that the practice was good and very much, then said the first guardian angel of the sky to the angel Hafazhah, "Strike with this practice face. people who do it. I am the guardian angel of gibah (gossip). Allah has told me so that I don't let the practice of those who gossip about other people get through me to keep going up to the top. "

Then the angel Hafazhah also came carrying the practice of a servant. They think that the practice is very good and very much (The angel succeeded in crossing the first heaven because the person who did the practice was not involved with the sin of backbiting) so they came to the second sky and said the second guardian angel of the sky: here and smack with this practice the face of the person who does it because he wants his practice to benefit the world. Allah has told me that I do not let the practices of people like this pass me to continue to go up. In addition, he also likes to raise himself in the assembly meetings. I am the guardian angel of greatness. "

Then the angel Hafazhah also ascended to bring the deeds of a servant who was full of light and light from the reward of alms, prayer and fasting. The angels of Hafazhah were amazed to see the beauty of this practice, then they carried the practice (across the first and second heavens), so that it reached the third heavenly door.

So said the third guardian angel of heaven, "Stop here and strike with this practice the face of the one who does it. I am the angel of arrogance. Allah told me not to let the practices of an arrogant person cross me. That person really likes to raise himself in the assembly of the crowd. "

Then also the angel Hafazhah took the charity of a servant. Amal was shining like the shine of a twinkling star. For him the sound of prayer beads, prayer, fasting, Hajj and Umrah. The angels of Hafazhah managed to carry this practice up to the fourth door of heaven.

So said the guardian angel of the fourth heavens, "Stop here and strike with this practice the face of the person who does it, on the back and on the stomach. I am the angel of death. Allah told me not to let the practice of someone who is intent can cross me. He does charity with the urge of feeling ujub against himself. "

Then the angel Hafazhah also climbed carrying the deeds of a servant so that they made it to the fifth heavenly door, as if the practice was a bride who was escorted (welcomed) to her husband's house (meaning that her practice was radiant).

Then said the fifth guardian angel of heaven, "Stop you and strike with this charity the face of the person who does it and throw it on the nape of his neck. I am the angel of hasad. He is very passionate towards people who learn knowledge and do good deeds like his practice. He hasud to others who do all their strengths in worship. He also denounced them. Allah told me not to let the deeds of this person who hasud passed me. "

Then the angel Hafazhah also rose carrying the practice of a servant. For him the light is like the full moon of prayer, zakat, umrah, jihad and fasting. The angel Hafazhah succeeded in bringing his practice up to the sixth sky.

Then said the guardian angel of the heavens, "Stop you and strike this practice in the face of those who do it because they do not have mercy on the servants of Allah who are afflicted with troubles and troubles. In fact, he felt excited about it. I am the angel of mercy. Allah told me not to let the practices of people like this pass me. "

Then the angel Hafazhah also went up carrying the practice of a servant. The practice is prayer, fasting, living, jihad, and wara '. To him the sound (meaning the sound of dhikr) is like the sound of a bee and for him the light is like the sun's rays and up with that practice three thousand angels. They have succeeded in carrying it up to the seventh door of heaven.

So said the angel guardian of the heaven's gates, "Stop you and hit with this practice the face of the person who does it, even strike all the limbs and cover it over his heart. I am the angel of remembrance (remembrance here means: looking for a title, that is, someone who does charity with the aim of being mentioned by others). I will hinder the practice of real people from reaching my Lord. He did charity not because he sought the pleasure of Allah, but only so that he could gain a high place in the hearts of the jurists and to be named among the scholars and so that his name would be famous everywhere. Allah told me not to let the actions of those who are riya pass me, because every practice that is not sincere is riya and Allah will not accept the deeds of real people. "

Then the angel Hafazhah also ascended with the practice of a servant. These practices are in the form of prayer, zakat, fasting, hajj, umrah, noble morals, a lot of abiding (from useless matters) and a lot of dhikr. The practice of this servant is carried out by the guardian angels of the seven levels of the heavens so that they cross all obstacles and come to Allah.

The angels stopped in front of Allah and testified with the sincerity and goodness of these deeds, then Allah said to his angels, "You are the one who is in charge of protecting the deeds of my servant and actually I know better with everything in his heart. He actually doesn't want me with his practice. He only wants something else from Me. Because of that I send down My accursation for him.

"Then the angels said," To him your cursing and also our cursing. " Then the angels of the seven levels of heaven and all of them cursed him.

Hearing the words of the Prophet Muhammad, Muaz cried and said, "You are Rasulullah SAW, while I am Muaz (servant of Allah who is not a Messenger). So how can I be safe and prosperous?

Then Rasulullah SAW replied, "You should follow me even if only with a little practice. O Muaz, guard your mouth carefully from criticizing your brother who reads Al-Quran (Ulama class) and bear all your sins on yourself. Do not pass on your sins to them. Don't think of yourself as clean. Do not also criticize others. Do not you praise yourself in front of them. Do not you mix the affairs of the world in the affairs of the hereafter. Do not be arrogant in the assembly, the people will be afraid of you because of your crimes. Don't whisper to someone while someone else is by your side. Do not you raise yourself, then all goodness will be cut off from you in this world and in the hereafter. Do not divide humans, then you will be torn apart by the dogs of hell fire on the Day of Resurrection.

Allah has said: "and (the angels) who took (the life) gently".

On the contrary, Allah has ordered the angel of death to ensure that unbelievers are severely deprived of their lives.

Do you know, O Muaz, who are they who tear it to pieces? Muaz asked: "O Messenger of Allah, who are they really?" Then the Prophet SAW replied: "Those are the fierce dogs in the hellfire that will tear the flesh to the bone."

Muaz asked, "O Messenger of Allah, who is the person capable of carrying out all the things you mentioned earlier? And who will survive that torment? "

The Prophet SAW replied: It is actually easy for people who are facilitated by Allah. "

Then Khalid bin Maadan said: “Then I never saw someone who read a lot Al-Quranul Karim is more than Muaz because he understands this great hadith. (This hadith is the narration of Binul Mubarak in the Book of Al-Zuhd and the narration of Binul Jauzi in the book of Al Maudhu'at (see Takhrij Al Iraqi, Ihya Ulumiddin 3/295)

You should think carefully about the matters contained in this hadith, O people who are fond of science. Know that as much as possible because what can confirm a bad temper in the heart is to study with the aim of showing strengths and with the aim of being good at conversations because ordinary people (people who are not knowledgeable) are somewhat more distant from evil traits. People who seek knowledge are subject to destructive liver diseases.

Look at yourself and weigh carefully, which is more important and which is better. What better one is learning knowledge that leads you to be careful of all things that can destroy you and then you are busy with repairing your heart and building your hereafter? Or is it better for you to hang out with people who talk empty, then you seek knowledge that makes you an arrogant, riya, hasad, ujub person so that in the end you will perish along with those who perish.

Know by you that these three things (hasad, riya, and ujub) are the source of all heart disease and for them the same place of growth, namely "hubbud dunya" (love of the world).

Therefore, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) once said, "The love of the world is the source of all evil / wrongdoing."

However, the world is also a field for the afterlife. So whoever takes the world only what he needs, that is, just what he uses to get to the afterlife, then a world like this is an afterlife field. But whoever takes the world solely for sadness and happiness, that world is sure to destroy him.

This is more or less what we mention in talking about "taqwa that is zahir" which is the beginning of the path to guidance. If you try it and you find that your desires can follow it, then continue reading the Ihya Ulumiddin book so that you come to speak of inner taqwa.

Then after that when you have filled your conscience with taqwa, then it will open for you all the veils between you and between your Lord and there will also be open to you all the light of Ma'rifat and will flow from your heart the radiance of wisdom and it will be clear to you all the secrets of the natural world realms that are visible to the eye) and the secrets of the realm of malakut (unseen realms) and it will be easy for you to reach the science of nature which makes you look down on new knowledge that was not mentioned in the days of the friends and tabi'in RA

If you only seek knowledge of "Qila wa Qala" (science of debate) and science of contradictions, and khilafiyah, then how great your calamity will be, how long your troubles will be, and how great your loss will be. At that time, make whatever you want because the world you demand by using religion is no longer safe for you, when your afterlife will definitely disappear from you.

So anyone who searches the world by using religion, he will lose in this world and the hereafter. Whoever leaves the world and relies on religion, surely he will benefit both at once.

So these are the words of guidance for you to begin your journey to praying with Allah Ta'ala and fulfilling all His commands and keeping all His prohibitions away.
