Five of the most beautiful tourist attractions in Macau

Macau has several interesting places to visit. Unfortunately, its predicate as a gambling paradise makes lodging prices quite expensive for backpackers. Here are the interesting places that characterize Macau (Macao).

Senado Square

Along Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro, Senado Square is immediately visible with a pond and fountain in the middle of the field. Why is Senado Square or in Portuguese, Largo do Senado a must-visit?

This area is a witness to the history of Macau as the entrance to Western countries into China in the past. Almost every corner of this square features European-style architectural buildings.

Worth a visit in this area is the church of St. Dominic and the Holy House of Mercy. The latter is the first institution to come up with the idea of the first western-style clinic in Macau.

Among these old buildings are many shops and restaurants that can be visited. With these old buildings, this location is the best location for shooting. If you visit this field during the day, the sun is quite hot. So, get ready to bring an umbrella or sunglasses.

Ruins of Sts Cathedral Paul

From Senado Square, the next must-visit destination is the ruins of St. Cathedral. Paul. Along the road to the ruins are numerous food and souvenir stalls. Compared to Hong Kong, shopping in Macau is a little cheaper. Muslims please be careful trying the snacks here as there is a lot of pork food.

From a distance, these ruins look beautiful, especially with the flower garden on the left side of the incline leading to the church. From the top of the ruins, the view of the city of Macau looks quite amazing. The luxurious and colorful casino building that blends with the gloomy and sometimes shabby old building becomes a unique blend.

Casino Building

Even if you don't like gambling, take the time to step into the casino building and admire the interior design of the casino in this former Portuguese colony. Apart from Venetian Macao, there are several casino buildings that are quite eye-catching both from the outside and the inside.

For example the Grand Lisboa and the MGM Grand which are located on Avenida De Dr. Sun Yat Sen. As the name implies, the interior theme in the building is also a film theme. Parts of the park and restaurant are conjured up like a film set. Panda Park which is adjacent to the casino is my favorite place to hang out. At every casino entrance, we are immediately greeted by a golden Kung Fu Panda statue.

Guan Yin statue

Not far from the hotel and the MGM Grand casino, lies a statue of Guan Yin or in martial arts films often referred to as Dewi Kwan Im. This Kwan Im statue is made of bronze as high as 20 meters on top of a building that is shaped like a lotus flower bud. This statue that resembles the Virgin Mary was designed by a Portuguese artist, Christina Rocha Leiria.

This statue is a bit away from the main island of Macau because it is built on a small artificial island and there is a long passage to connect it. On the left side of the statue, you can see the scientific center of Macau, which features an equally unique building architect.

Macau Tower

The final must-visit place in Macau is the Macau Tower. The location is a bit far. Moreover, most streets in Macau are one-way, so if you want to go to the Macau Tower, it's best to take a taxi. Don't be afraid of being expensive because the island of Macau is no bigger than South Jakarta.

Those who want to test their guts can try bungee jumping at the Macau Tower. It's just that, the price for one jump is fairly expensive. The price of going up to the tower is also quite expensive.

We can also enjoy a meal at one of the restaurants facing the friendly bridge (Ponte De Sai Van), which connects the island of Macau with the island of Taipa.
