DDHK News, Indonesia - Dompet Dhuafa (DD) helps residents of Tae Hue-Oeue Hamlet, East Amanuban District, South Middle East Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), who have experienced difficulties in getting clean water for decades.
“One of the habits of the Tae Hue-Oeue people is not to bathe. This is because there is only enough water for consumption and washing clothes, ”said Rizal, Team Semesta Hijau Dompet Dhuafa, Wednesday (14/1).
Rizal said, to get clean water, people have to walk tens or even hundreds of meters to a water source. A number of residents usually carry out MCK activities near the water source, both washing clothes, dishes and food utensils, ablution for Muslims, bathing, and so on.
He said, actually from the edge of the hamlet of Tae Hue-Oeue there is a water source whose discharge is quite large, with a distance of ± 500 meters. According to local people, this water source never runs out throughout the year. This is because the number of trees that grow around the spring is still maintained.
Under these conditions, the Universe is Green Dompet Dhuafa recommending the construction of water storage tanks and pipelines that flow from these water sources.
"We are currently building a large reservoir near a water source, then it will be flowed to the hamlet of Tae Hue - Oeue and then to other villages that need access to clean water, namely Meuleun, Pisan and M'neleanen," he explained.
The development, which began in December 2014, was hampered by the bad weather that occurred in the area around NTT. The plan is for the construction of reservoirs and water pipelines to be completed and realized in March.
