This appeal was raised because of the possibility of differences in the beginning of Ramadan between Muhammadiyah Islamic organizations and NU. Muhammadiyah has set the start of Ramadan on Saturday, June 28, while NU is likely to be Sunday June 29.
KH Abdhussomad Bukhori, Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) in East Java, made the appeal, so that there would be no commotion in the community regarding the potential for differences in determining the start of Ramadan.

To bridge these differences, MUI, said KH Shomad, had long asked the two mass organizations to sit together to find a solution. However, until now there is no solution.
