A dilemma, always grant people's wishes or saving for children and the future

Assalamualaikum. Ustadz, I want to ask a question.

Is it better to save money on parents but have savings, or grant all their wishes and they are happy but have no savings at all?

In fact, sometimes, when there is a sudden need or an important problem, I even have to look for a loan.

I sincerely give to them, Ustadz. But sometimes I think, if this continues what will happen to me and my children in the future? Because I have no savings at all. But on the one hand, I'm happy to see them happy.

Thank you, Ustadz.

Greetings, Fulanah

ANSWER:

Wassalamu'alaikum warahmatullahi wabarokaatuh.

Parents and children are both our obligation to provide for. Most importantly, proportional. This means that the basic needs of parents are met, at the same time we also fulfill the needs of their children and their future.

Communicate openly with parents if possible and necessary. Tell them that investment and savings are needed for the child's future. God willing, parents will understand.

Wallâhu a'lam bish-showâb.

Regards!
