"The supervisory board of the ulama group is tasked with preparing an academic curriculum adopted by accredited Islamic institutions in Islamic countries," Abdullah Nicholas Blancho, a board member of the newly established Islamic institution, told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Tuesday (22/4) ).
The Islamic Sciences Institute was launched by the Swiss Islamic Shura Council. According to the council, the new institute will allow people of all religions to enroll in classes on the Quran, Sunnah and Hadith studies.
"Islamic institutions aim to promote moderate values and Islamic principles which essentially call for tolerance," said Blancho.
This institution will also continue to provide an understanding of Islam and the real Muslims.
The number of Muslims in Switzerland is estimated at 500.000 Muslims, out of a population of more than 8 million. Most of them are immigrants from Albania and elsewhere in the Balkans.
Founded in 2009, the Swiss Shura Islamic Council represents Swiss Muslim groups, including academic leaders, who defend the rights of Islam and Muslims in this European country against hate campaigns among the right.
