NEWS FROM HONG KONG

HONG KONG - MTR Corporation, the operator of Hong Kong's MTR rail service, suspended service at Wan Chai station, hours after shutting down Central station. “Police stopped the march from Central towards the US Consulate office at 16:45 pm, after protesters vandalized an MTR station and blocked several entrances. Protesters also burned several places outside the station exit, as well as at the intersection of Connaught Road Central and Pedder Street, which were quickly extinguished by firefighters, "wrote Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK), Sunday (8/9/2019) . The article was published at 18:45 pm.

Several protesters also smashed glass partitions, TV screens and a revolving door inside the Wan Chai MTR station, causing the train operator to suspend service, around 6.40pm. "MTR Corporation said the move was taken 'due to the increasing situation at the station, to ensure the safety of our passengers and staff," wrote RTHK.

Friends of Indonesian Migrants who are still around Causeway Bay must also be careful. Because it was also reported, riot police fired tear gas near the Sogo convenience store on Sunday evening, around 19:38, when a large crowd of protesters headed to a shopping area after staging an action in Central.

Officers who had gathered inside the station fired multiple bursts of tear gas at several nearby protesters. Several demonstrators dressed in black immediately took the canisters and threw them back at the police.
