Indonesian Residents Build Istiqlal Mosque in Osaka, Japan

DDHK.ORG - Indonesian CNN, Wednesday, January 5, 2022, reported several citizens Indonesia (WNI) built the Istiqlal Mosque in the middle of Osaka City, Japan. The presence of the Osaka Istiqlal Mosque is expected to make it easier for Muslims who want to worship in the area.

This mosque has not officially opened. To CNN Indonesia, Chairman of the Mosque Foundation Indonesia The Osaka Foundation, Herizal Ahardi, hopes that this mosque can be operational as soon as everything is done.

“The mosque itself has not been opened because we have not paid it off. On December 3, we are given only one time for Friday prayers. After that, after we pay off everything, we will get the key and we will use it for worship," said Herizal.

Herizal and his friends have actually managed to collect fees for repayment on Friday, December 31, 2021 ago. “The cost for repayment is already there, just think about the cost of the renovation. So the funds we need are actually around Rp. 28 billion. IDR 28 billion is for the payment of our building. Then we need renovation funds and so on," said Herizal.

"So the total is possible if it is included with the administration more or less, depending on the Yen exchange rate, yes, between IDR 27 billion to IDR 28 billion."

In the Osaka Istiqlal Mosque building, said Herizal, the foundation plans to build a prayer room, madrasa, and converts to Islam center. Currently, the construction of the Osaka Istiqlal Mosque is only constrained by financial problems.

In addition, the government and citizens of Japan welcomed the initiative to build this mosque. “Now in Japan, everything, especially in the field of religion, Japan is very welcome. Automatically there are no restrictions from them, as long as we still comply with Japanese laws," he said. [DDHKNews]
