Eid al-Adha sermon: 4 lessons from the story of the Prophet Abraham and his family

TUNG CHUNG | HONG KONG - Dai Cordofa Dompet Dhuafa Hong Kong (DDHK), Ustadz Ohan Burhanudin, Sunday (11/8/2019), became an imam and preacher for the Eid al-Adha prayer in Tung Chung. At the prayer sermon held by DDHK with the An-Nur Tung Chung assembly, Ustadz Ohan conveyed important messages contained in the story of the spiritual journey of Prophet Ibrahim 'alaihis-salam.

"There are four lessons from the story of the Prophet ibrahim 'alaihis-salam and his family," said Ustadz Ohan in front of hundreds of congregations.

First, be kind to Allah Ta'ala. Prophet Ibrahim and Siti Hajar, both were able to husnuz-zhon or be kind to Allah, when Ibrahim left his wife and child in a place which in the Koran is mentioned as a valley where there is no life in it. "Likewise, his wife (Siti Hajar) is ready to be abandoned by her husband, even if she doesn't bring much supplies, because she believes that her husband left on the orders of Allah Ta'ala," said Ustadz Ohan.

The second message, looking for lawful sustenance. When little Ismail was crying because of thirst and hunger, Siti Hajar felt uneasy about her son's condition. Finally, he went back and forth between the hills of Safa and the hills of Marwah.

"This is a baliau business, although in the end the water he was looking for was near his own son," said Ustadz Ohan in his sermon.

Third, sacrifice for Allah. Prophet Ibrahim and his family were willing to sacrifice for and for Allah Ta'ala, at whatever risk they faced. "Never mind wealth, the life of his son is ready to be sacrificed, if that is an order from Allah Ta'ala," he said.

The fourth message is to educate the family. Ismail will not be a good child, except because of the upbringing of his father and mother. Likewise, Siti Hajar, cannot be a pious wife without her husband's guidance.

"Likewise Ibrahim, will not be a pious husband and father without the guidance of Allah," said Ustadz Ohan. [DDHKNews]
