8 Lockdown Areas, No New Cases Found

DDHK.ORG -  The spread of the Omicron variant of the Covid-19 virus forced the government to Hong Kong to "lockdown" 5 areas in Ap Lei Chau, Tai Po, North Point, Happy Valley and Ma On Shan. Since Thursday night, January 6, 2022, residents in these 5 areas have been subject to mandatory Covid-19 tests.

The lockdown ends on Friday, January 7th. "The government announces that mandatory testing and law enforcement operations for 5 restricted areas (lockdown areas) in Ap Lei Chau, Tai Po, North Point, Happy Valley and Ma On Shan were completed today with no positive cases of Covid-19 found," the Hong Kong Government announced on its official website.

The restricted areas include Pik On House (Block C), Yue On Court in Ap Lei Chau, Mei Sun Building in Tai Po, Block 3, Phase 1, City Garden in North Point, Fung Fai Terrace in Happy Valley, and Kam Huen House. (Block F), Kam Fung Court in Ma On Shan, where 720, 490, 590, 13 and 1.520 residents were tested.

In the next operation, about 1.393 people's test records were checked. Five people have not yet undergone the mandatory test.

“Government staff also visited around 1.272 households in five restricted areas, of which around 102 did not open the door. The household is urged to immediately contact the government to arrange a test," the government's official website said.

Previously, the same thing was also applied in 3 areas in Kowloon Tong, Causeway Bay, and North Point. Also, no positive cases of Covid-19 were found.

The areas include Rock View Gardens and Yau Yat Tsuen in Kowloon Tong, Serene Court in Causeway Bay and Block 15 of Provident Center in North Point, where 60, 135 and 320 residents were tested. In subsequent enforcement operations, about 230 people's test records were examined. None were found not to have undergone mandatory testing.

In these 3 areas government staff also visited about 160 households in the three restricted areas, of which about 15 did not open the door. "The household is urged to immediately contact the Government to arrange a test," the government wrote. [Source: news.gov.hk]
