UAE Astronomical Center Forecast for Islamic Countries Start of Ramadan Fast

DDHK. ORG – The United Arab Emirates International Center for Astronomy has issued forecasts for the start of the Ramadan fast for countries Islam in this world. The holy month of Ramadan in United Arab Emirates (UAE) is expected to coincide on March 23, 2023.

Reported Republika, according to the Astronomical Center, countries that started Shaban on February 21, started looking for the beginning of the crescent or sightings of the beginning of Ramadan. However, on March 21, they will not be able to see it because the moon will set before the sun.

"These countries will therefore end Shaban on Wednesday March 22, and March 23 will be the first day of Ramadan," the Astronomy Center said.

Meanwhile, countries that mark the beginning of Shaban on February 22, 2023, such as Iran, Oman, and Jordan, will very likely be able to see the crescent moon (Ramadan) on March 22.

Then countries in the eastern part of the world will be able to see it with telescopes.

Countries in Central Asia, Eastern Europe, and South Africa may be able to see it with the naked eye while countries in West Asia, most of Africa, Western Europe, and America can see it relatively easily with the naked eye.

"Most of these countries will also mark the first day of Ramadan on March 23," the Center said.

The center, however, noted that India, Bangladesh and Pakistan may not be able to see the crescent moon on March 22 and will therefore mark the first day of Ramadan on March 24.

The start of Ramadan changes each year based on the Islamic calendar, which consists of 12 lunar months with a total of 354 or 355 days. This causes the fasting month to advance 10 days earlier each year in the Christian calendar. [DDHK News]
