Procedures for Standing in the Hajj

Wukuf is the pillars of Hajj that must be performed by all pilgrims. If you don't do wukuf at Arafah, it means you don't do Hajj.

There are several procedures that are carried out while standing at Arafah, namely:

1. Starting with listening to the khutbah of wukuf, just before the sun goes down.
2. The pilgrims perform the jama' taqdim prayer or collect two prayers at once, namely the midday and midday prayers.
3. Increase istighfar, dhikr and pray both for yourself and others, regarding the interests of religion or the world with piety and full attention, while raising both hands.

Rasulullah SAW said:
خَيْرُ الدُّعَاءْ

"The best prayer is prayer on the day of Arafat." (HR. Tirmidhi no. 3585)

In another hadith, From 'Aisyah, he said that Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam said,

Amen ةَ وَإِنَّهُ لَيَدْنُو ثُمَّ يُبَاهِى بِهِمُ الْمَلاَئِكَةَ فَيَقُولُ مَا أَرَادَ هَؤُلاَءِ

“Among the days on which Allah frees a person from hell a lot is the day of Arafah. He will approach them and then will reveal their priority to the angels. Then Allah said: What do they want?” (HR. Muslim no. 1348)

4. One of the recommended remembrances during standing is

God bless you ْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ

5. After Maghrib, slowly leave the desert of Arafah towards Mudzalifah in a calm and peaceful manner.

Hopefully we can keep ourselves busy to pray more while standing at Arafah.
