More than 1,5 Million Hong Kong Residents Take the Mass Covid-19 Test

DDHK.ORG - The Hong Kong government announced, until Thursday (10/9/2020), or the tenth day, a total of 1.527.000 citizens had taken the mass Covid-19 test under the Universal Community Testing Program (UCTP). By 8 p.m. the same day, approximately 1.344.000 specimens collected under the program had been tested.

“Specimens positive for COVID-19 will be referred to the Public Health Laboratory Service Branch of the Ministry of Health for confirmation. The confirmed cases will be followed up and announced by the Center for Health Protection (CHP), ”the official website of the Hong Kong Government, news.gov.hk was reported.

On Thursday alone, as many as 104.000 residents came to more than 100 mass Covid-19 test centers scattered in various locations in Hong Kong. Including among them, Indonesian migrant workers. One of them, named Lina, took the Covid-19 test at Yuen Long Government Primary School, the location for the mass test closest to where she lives, on Thursday, at 2:45 pm.

“Unlike many of my friends, I was a bit late to take the test, because I didn't have time. Finally, today my boss and a friend underwent a test together, ”said Lina, Thursday (10/9/2020).

What is different from the experiences of many Indonesian migrant workers who have previously shared stories about their participation in the mass Covid-19 test which is held for free by the Hong Kong Government, Lina and her friends underwent the test without registering online first. "Earlier, my friend and I did not register online. Only my boss signed up. We both came to the location and immediately registered on the spot. The service is the same, friendly and full of enthusiasm, ”said Lina.

When entering the building where the mass test was conducted, Lina admitted that she was not asked whether she had registered online or not. As soon as she registered on the spot, showed her HKID, and told her cellphone number, Lina received an SMS notification. He suspected that the SMS in Cantonese contained information about his registration number.

"We both did not hesitate to immediately register on the spot because there was already news on television. It was reported that they could come directly without registering online, ”he said. [DDHK. ORG]
