DD_Hong_KongDDHK News, Hong Kong - Dompet Dhuafa Hong Kong (DDHK) collected and empowered Zakat, Infaq and Shodakoh (ZIS) funds of 2.590.851 Hong Kong dollars (HK $) during 2013. According to the General Manager (GM) of DDHK Ustadz Rovi Octaviano Vustany, the beneficiaries of the funds raised were Hong Kong Indonesian Migrant Workers (BMI) and their families.

"The beneficiaries of the DD Hong Kong fund specifically for migrant workers in Hong Kong are approximately 100 to 150 people per month," said Ust. Rovi. "They are indeed people who are in great need, so if one could say that BMI, from BMI, for BMI is very suitable for this theme of empowerment."

He stated, DD Hong Kong distributed the funds through various programs. The program includes skills training, entrepreneurship, da'wah, health, and advocacy.

The implementers of DDHK programs so far are none other than Hong Kong BMIs themselves who volunteer and are members of the DDHK Volunteer Division.

Migrant Institute (MI DDHK) is one of the DD programs in Hong Kong. Migrant Institute can be said training center which are owned Dompet Dhuafa Hong Kong. There, BMIs are empowered through skills training, such as make-up, sewing courses, computer training and English.

"So, we help friends to master it all. So when they return home, the hope is that they will not stagnate because of the cultural differences between Hong Kong and Indonesia, especially since the villages there are very different, ”explained Rovi.

DD Hong Kong has been monitoring and providing advocacy and moral assistance to BMIs since 2004. In the future, Rovi said, DD Hong Kong will continue to strengthen advocacy programs and skills training for BMIs. (Dompetdhuafa.org)
