NEWS FROM HONG KONG

HONG KONG - Based on DDHKNews' monitoring on the official website of Hong Kong International Airport, at 14:30 hours, there were still 86 incoming flights with "canceled" status until midnight today, Tuesday (13/8/2019). During the same period, there were 43 departing flights with the status of “canceled.

In the morning, the Hong Kong-based public broadcaster, Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK), reported that the flight cancellations that had occurred since Monday (12/8/2019) afternoon, due to the occupation of the airport by mass protesters, continued to this day.

The Airport Authority notifies passengers to pay attention to the latest flight information on airport websites, https://www.hongkongairport.com/en/, and its HKG My Flight mobile app.

Even though hundreds of flights are still scheduled normally, passengers need to be vigilant. Because, as reported by RTHK and the South China Morning Post (SCMP), an English-language media published in Hong Kong, the anti-government protesters were seen returning to Hong Kong airport on Tuesday afternoon, preparing to carry out further action.

"At 1pm Tuesday, some 200 demonstrators dressed in black gathered in the arrivals hall in response to an online call (via social media) to restart the protest," wrote the SCMP.
