Semesta Hijau DD: Empowerment Based on Environment

Universe-Green DDDDHK News, Indonesia -Dompet Dhuafa (DD) launched an environmental care program entitled "Semesta Hijau". Environmental improvement is one of the prerequisites for empowering the poor.

Green Universe Program Dompet Dhuafa this includes tree alms, water for life (AUK), renewable energy, and waste treatment.

Alms Trees is an initiative program Dompet Dhuafa to invite donors and beneficiary communities to contribute to reforestation efforts, rehabilitation of critical lands, and environmental sustainability. This program is aimed at encouraging improvements in environmental quality in line with the improvement of the standard of living of the beneficiary communities.

"We have a motto of Greening, Preserving and Living, that is what we are realizing," said Imam Al Faruq, Manager of the Green Universe. Dompet Dhuafa.

The number of tree alms beneficiaries is around 1.673 of the 200.000 trees planted throughout Indonesia.

Green Universe Dompet Dhuafa have planted approximately 21.574 trees planted, which are scattered in several districts, such as Kuningan (West Java), Gorontalo, Baruga (Central Sulawesi), Simeuleu (NAD), Cianjur (West Java), Maros (Sulsel), Bogor (West Java), Sukabumi (West Java), and Batu (East Java).

"Eastern Indonesia has been hit by a very long dry season in recent months, usually residents collect rainwater for consumption for drinking and toilets, this condition is difficult for them," explained Imam.

The Water for Life Program (AUK) tries to play a role in this problem. Attempts to focus on providing clean water, improving sanitation facilities, purifying brackish or salty water, and purifying wastewater.

Water For Life Program Dompet dhuafa (Water Program) is assistance for the poor in areas of crisis with clean water for consumption based on community participation. To date, there are 25 Water for Life program points in several provinces in Indonesia such as Gorontalo, Jambi, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), Banten, South Sematera, West Java and East Kalimantan. The development of the Water for Life program is more directed to areas included in the Indonesian drought map.
