Anti-Islamic Figures Enter the Dutch Cabinet

The Dutch liberal camp and the Christian Democrat Party have agreed to join a coalition to form a government which is also supported by the Dutch anti-Islamic figure, Geert Wilders.

"We have put in the final touches of the agreement," said Mark Rutte, Wednesday (29/9), to the center-right coalition of the liberal VVD party that looks set to become PM Netherlands.

Rutte, leader of the Christian Democratic Party (CDA) Maxime Verhagen, and Wilders agreed on a government program and on how Wilders' Party for Freedom could support the next government.

The liberal parties VVD and CDA only control 52 of the total 150 seats in the lower house of the Dutch parliament, but they control the majority thanks to the help of 24 votes from the PVV.

Rutte, whose party narrowly won the June 9 election, did not disclose details of the agreement to reporters. What is clear is that the agreement will be conveyed to his business party, as well as to the Christian Democrat Party and Wilders' PVV.

The CDA, which is split over participating in the coalition with Wilders' party, will hold the vote this Saturday.

"This is a beautiful day for the Netherlands," Wilders said during a campaign declaring he wanted to stop Muslim immigration and the construction of new mosques to stop what he called the "Islamization" of the Netherlands. (Mel / Antara / ddhongkong.org). *
