MACAU - Macau is a state of the People's Republic of China which is known as the Casino Country or Las Vegas of Asia. No doubt, many people sneer and underestimate the Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) Macau.
That's why I want to bring up another story about Macau that not many outsiders know about. Especially, related to PMI activities on the month of Ramadan.
Every month of fasting, the nine PMI organizations in Macau hold a Ramadan Together (RAMA) activity. This activity is held throughout the month of Ramadan to Eid al-Adha, with support from Dompet Dhuafa Hong Kong (DDHK), the Dai International Core Team and the Media of the Nahdlatul Ulama Da'wah Institute (TIDIM LDNU), and the Islamic Union of Hong Kong (IUHK).
Representatives of the Macau Masjid Jamaah organization were appointed as coordinators for this year's RAMA committee. While the position of committee secretary is held by representatives of the Indonesian Migrant Workers Union (IMWU). Meanwhile, representatives of the Wahidiyah Struggle Foundation (YPW) were appointed as treasurers. The Indonesian Macau Taklim Council (MATIM) and the Halaqoh Macau were entrusted with the mandate to be in charge of the dai.
Like the RAMA in previous years, on the first Sunday of Ramadan (12/5/2019), various activities were held at the Mo Lo Yuen Mosque, Macau. Starting with tadarrus Al-Quran Together at 10:00, at 14:00 until the time of breaking the fast, the activities were filled with Islamic studies.
The three dai gave tausiyah at the Islamic study event. Namely, Ustadz Abdul Hamid from Myanmar, Ustad Ersa from Serang, Banten, who served as the imam of the Tarawih prayer during Ramadan, and Ustadz Sukron Makmun from the DDHK Dai Ambassador program.
We as the committee felt so happy because of the great enthusiasm of Sahabat Migran in participating in RAMA activities. Not only religious tausiyah, in this Islamic study activity we also provide zakat counters and provide pick-up and consultation services for zakat, infaq, alms, endowments, and disaster donations, in collaboration with DDHK.
Hopefully this kind of activity can reinforce our faith and Islam, PMI Macau.
