Palestinian Fighters Support the Victory of the Tunisian People

DDHK News - The Palestinian militant factions, including the Hamas movement, expressed their support for the intifada (resistance) carried out by the Tunisian people against the dictatorial regime which has suspicious relations with the Zionist occupation.

Palestinian Minister of Home Affairs in the Gaza Strip, Fathi Hamad, when opening a police headquarters in Zaitun, eastern Gaza, Saturday (15/1), told journalists that his party supports the Tunisian people in choosing their leader. "Even though it must be done at a cost," he was quoted as saying by Palestinian Info.

Hamad added that what happened in Tunisia was the implementation of the will of the people who have been patient all the time under the dictatorship. "May Allah give them goodness to carry out elections and elect a new government," he continued.

Spokesperson for the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) Dr. Sami Abu Zuhri emphasized that his movement respects the will of the Tunisian people in choosing its leader.

In a special statement to the Infopalestina correspondent on Saturday (15/1), he said Hamas respects the will of the Tunisian people and their choices. "We affirm our support for them," he said.

The Hamas spokesman emphasized that the Tunisian people have the right to choose the sovereignty they want through a democratic process guaranteed to be far from foreign intervention.

The spokesman for the Islamic Jihad Movement, Dawud Syihab, told the French news agency that his party was praying for the Tunisian people for the intifada that was carried out against the dictatorial system. "What happened in Tunisia proves that the Arab people are able to create change for the sake of freedom and reject dictatorship and tyranny," said Syihab.

Syihab stated that the Tunisian case is a message to all parties, including Israel and the West, that the system which has ties to the Zionist Israeli entity can end and that is good news for the dawn of freedom to come.

A spokesman for the Palestinian Democratic Front described the events in Tunisia as a "great victory" for the Tunisian people and a "lesson for all parties". For that, he called on the Arab people to rise up against their tyrannical rulers and dictators.

The Tunisian people last Friday (14/1) succeeded in overthrowing their president, Ben Ali, after 23 authoritarian rule, after popular protests lasted for a month and left hundreds of people dead and injured. Minister Muhammad al-Ganushi took over from the presidency temporarily after the president stepped down and fled Tunisia to Saudi Arabia late Friday. (Mel / Palestinian Info). *
