UN: Israeli attacks on Gaza violate international law

DDHK.ORG - Secretary General of the United Nations (UN) Antonio Guterres considered the Israeli attack on the Gaza Strip violated international law. He also admitted that he was disappointed with the attack which claimed many lives.

This was conveyed by Guterres through his spokesman, Stephane Dujarric, as quoted by AFP, Sunday (16/5/2021). "The Secretary-General is disappointed by the increasing number of civilian casualties, including the deaths of ten of the same family members, including children, as a result of last night's Israeli airstrikes on al-Shati camp in Gaza, purportedly aimed at a Hamas leader," said Dujarric.

He asked that in the future this illegal attack could be avoided. "The Secretary General reminds all parties that any civilian target and media structure recklessly violates international law and must be avoided at all costs," he said.

In total, Israeli aggression against Gaza, Palestine, has killed 145 people, including 41 children, and injured 1.100 others. The attack also destroyed the Al Jalaa Tower which houses the Al Jazeera and Associated Press news agencies on the 11th floor. [Source: CNN Indonesia] [DDHKNews]
