Latest Quarantine Provisions Upon Arrival in Hong Kong

DDHK.ORG - Since June 21, 2021, Hong Kong has implemented a new relaxed rule regarding mandatory quarantine upon arrival in the country for people who have received an injection of the COVID-19 vaccine complete with a positive antibody serological test result. The mandatory quarantine period for them is shortened, only 7 days.

This relaxation of quarantine rules applies to both Hong Kong residents and non-Hong Kong residents. “The local epidemic situation has stabilized, and vaccination rates have continued to rise. Hong Kong is well equipped to allow persons arriving in Hong Kong who have been fully vaccinated and have a positive serological antibody test result to be subject to a shortened 7-day mandatory quarantine period and to allow non-Hong Kong residents to enter Hong Kong after meeting certain requirements. , depending on the level of risk where they live," said a spokesman for the Hong Kong Government in a press release, June 21, 2021.

However, he emphasized, this relaxation does not apply to people who have lived in countries categorized as very risky or very high risk places. Namely, countries in Group A1 and A2 categories. Strict quarantine provisions also still apply to people who have not been vaccinated. And, since June 25, 2021, Indonesia has been included in this category.

Here are the details of the new rules regarding the quarantine:

First, people who arrive in Hong Kong and previously only stayed in a country categorized as Group B, Group C, or Taiwan on the day of arrival or 14 days before that day will be subject to a shortened mandatory quarantine period of 7 days at the designated quarantine hotel if they meet three conditions. In addition, they must undergo 2 nucleic acid tests during the quarantine period, followed by a 7-day self-monitoring period, and mandatory tests on the 12th, 16th and 19th days of arrival in Hong Kong.
