Starting Friday, Hong Kong Bans All Flights from Indonesia

DDHK.ORG - Starting from Friday (25/6/2021) the Hong Kong government has banned all passenger flights from Indonesia from landing in the country. The policy was taken because the Hong Kong authorities assessed that the number of imported Covid-19 cases from Indonesia entering the country had exceeded the set threshold.

"The government announced today that all passenger flights from Indonesia will be prohibited from landing in Hong Kong from 25 June," the Hong Kong government announced through its official website, Wednesday, 23 June 2021.

Previously, the Hong Kong Government announced that Indonesia's status was designated as a category A1 (extremely high risk) country. In category A1, all people who have spent 2 hours in Indonesia are not allowed to enter Hong Kong.

A similar policy has also been taken earlier by Hong Kong against 4 other countries, for the same reason. Namely, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and the Philippines, which together with Indonesia are the countries of origin of the largest foreigners in the Land of Concrete.

In response, the Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong appealed to all Indonesian citizens to continue to strictly implement health protocols, obey local regulations, and participate in vaccination programs. "The Consulate General in Hong Kong will continue to monitor the development of this policy and if you need further assistance, please contact the Hotline of the Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong at WA +852 67730466 and +852 6894 2799," the Consulate General wrote on his official Facebook page.
