Israeli Soldiers in Gaza Mass Poisoned

Israeli soldiers stationed in the Gaza Strip during the aggression reportedly experienced mass food poisoning. As a result, many people experience acute diarrhea and high fever.

According to a report by the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, quoted from Middle East Monitor on Tuesday (5/12/2023), the 'outbreak' of diarrhea began with the large number of food donations from various restaurants to the Israeli army. However, unhygienic food storage and shipping causes food to be contaminated with bacteria.

“Diarrhea has spread among soldiers in the south [of Israel], then spread among soldiers on duty in Gaza. "We diagnosed a Shigella bacterial infection that triggers dysentery, a very dangerous disease that is spreading among soldiers in Gaza," said Head of the Infectious Disease Unit at Assuta Ashdod University Hospital, Dr. Tal Broch.

Broch explained that the outbreak of diarrhea and fever had an impact on the condition of Israeli soldiers. The reason is, the bacterial infection continues to spread, causing many soldiers to experience a decline in their health condition. Israeli military members who suffer from diarrhea and fever until their body temperature rises are even considered not fit enough to serve.

Broch also reminded that digestive diseases carry a risk of death if they do not receive further medical treatment. "If the infection spreads among 10 soldiers in the infantry, and they develop a fever once the temperature reaches 40 degrees Celsius, and when they start having diarrhea every 20 minutes, then they are no longer fit for duty and put themselves at risk of death," he said.
