Iranian clerics condemn the ban on headscarves in Azerbaijan

DDHK News - Iranian cleric Ayatollah Jafar Sobhani condemned the ban on headscarves in Azerbaijan. He sent a letter to the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, condemning the ban on the headscarf in Azerbaijan as a step against Islam and human rights.

"As reported by the mass media, the Azerbaijan education ministry has ordered (related officials) to prevent students wearing Islamic headscarves (headscarves) from entering schools and universities ... I have to remind you that this move is against Divine law and the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights," he wrote.

"The United Nations Declaration of Human Rights calls for respect for all beliefs, religions and friendship among all nations and races," he said. He asked Aliyev to obey him.

"Is it true that some parts of your society lose their right to education because they practice virtue and follow God's laws or are forced to ignore God's laws and feel the pain of conscience (to break Allah's Commandments)?"

Ayatollah urged President Azeri to order the lifting of the headscarf ban to restore unity and win back public support. (Mel / Tehran Times). *
