Don't judge evangelicals by one who made Islam angry

Oleh ASM. Romli

Don't judge evangelicals by one who made Islam angry. "Don't judge evangelicals by the behavior of one evangelical which makes Muslims angry". That's the title of an article on the site The Arizona Republic, AZ Central (28/9), regarding the arson case Al-Quran initiated by Evangelical Pastor from Florida, America, Terry Jones.

"As moderate Muslims should be heard when they explain that jihadists do not represent all of Islam, so thousands of evangelical pastors should be heard saying that Christianity is not about retaliation, book burning or hatred," wrote John Dickerson, a writer and journalist who also pastor Gereje Cornerstone in Prescott, USA.

Just as moderate Muslims must be heard when explaining that jihadist groups do not represent all Muslims, so thousands of evangelical pastors should also be heard when they say that Christianity is not about retribution, book burning (the Quran), or hatred. "

Dickerson is right. Do not equate Christians or evangelicals with Jones' actions, as do not equate Islam with the behavior of a group of "terrorists" who claim to be Muslim or act on behalf of Islam in their acts of terror. Jones is not a representation of the church or Christians, just as terrorists are not a reflection of Islam and Muslims as a whole.

But, Dickerson, you forgot ... What triggered Jones's tantrums was the conflicting thoughts that you wrote down. In fact, Jones was the one who judged Islam (Al-Quran) by terrorists. Jones thought Al-Quran teaches terrorism; Islam preaches violence. Jones - as well as Westerners in general - is shortsighted in equating Islam, the Koran, with terrorists.

As a result of this shortsighted thinking, not only were the Koran torn and burned, but there were also the banning of mosque minarets in Switzerland, the ban on the hijab in France, the opposition to the Cordoba House mosque in New York, the burning of mosques in Tennessee, and many hate crimes (hate crimes) others.

You are so scared, we Muslims equate the acts of Jones with Christianity. You're calling on us not to judge evangelicals with Jones's crazy ideas. But you are not fair. Your "congregation" and the American citizens have long equated, identified, stigmatized Islam and Muslims as a terrorist act! As a result, anti-Islamic sentiment spread throughout America, Europe, and even the world.

Mr. Dickerson, Muslims have been mature, wise, and smart in responding to Terry Jones, Bob Old, Danny Allen, and the “church congregation” who tore and burned the Quran. We didn't respond by tearing up and burning the Bible. We do not overreact, we do not return crime for crime, humiliation with harassment anymore, because our religion prohibits insulting other religions; Our religion (Islam) teaches tolerance and does not disturb people of other religions. "For you your religion, for me my religion," the Quran teaches us.

Mr. Dickerson… I agree with your writing as I quoted above. I hope you write and also share with your congregation in your church, to Americans and the world at large: “Don't judge Islam and Muslims (including Mosque, Quran, Hijab, and Niqab) by one who made people angry” !!! so that Americans are less shivering with fear and so vehemently against the planned construction of a mosque near Ground Zero, NY.

You can start by replacing the word "Islam" in the title of your article with "Muslim". Islam is NOT Muslim; Muslim is NOT Islamic. Islam is different with Muslim, Mr. Dickerson…! By using the term “Islam” to refer to that “Muslims / Muslims, you are also misunderstanding… misperception!

The right one is not "Don't judge evangelicals by one who made Islam angry", but "Don't judge evangelicals by one who made Muslim angry". Allah knows best.*
