23 Regions in East Java Drought

DDHK.ORG - Head of the East Java Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Budi Santosa, said that the drought hit 23 regencies/cities in one of the provinces where Indonesian migrant workers came from in Hong Kong and Macau. Of that number, 232 sub-districts and 699 villages/kelurahan experienced critical drought, namely drought conditions where residents' houses are more than 3 kilometers away from water sources.

“Of the 23 regencies/cities, the most drought-prone areas are in Pacitan Regency with 115 villages. Then followed by Sampang Regency 78 villages and Bangkalan 69 villages," wrote CNN Indonesia, Thursday (30/9/2021).

To deal with the drought, seven districts have applied for clean water assistance to the East Java Provincial Government. Namely, Sumenep, Pamekasan, Bangkalan, Ngawi, Pacitan, Mojokerto, and Pasuruan regencies. [DDHKNews]
