The Virtue of Alms During Ramadan Based on Hadith

DDHK. ORG – Alms moment Ramadan month full of grace has priority alone. Already know? Let's see.

Based on the hadith narrated by Bukhari, it is said that Rasulullah SAW was a creature of Allah SWT who was very generous or loved to give alms, especially in the month of Ramadan. In fact, the generosity of the Prophet Muhammad in the month of Ramadan is likened to the wind that blows. As said by Ibn Abbas radhiyallahu 'anhu:

"It was the Prophet SAW who was the most generous person in goodness and his generous nature increased in the month of Ramadan when the angel Gabriel met him to teach him Alquran. Jibril 'alaihissalam used to come to him every night of Ramadan until the end of that month. On every night the Prophet would always listen to the readings Alquranhe said to Gabriel. When Jibril 'alaihissalam meets him, then he is very generous in goodness beyond the wind that blows." (HR. Al-Bukhari 1769 and Muslim 4268)

Quoted from the page Dompetdhuafa, Ramadan has reasons why it is considered special. In this month there is the event of nuzulul Quran or the day it was revealed Alquran, namely on the 17th of Ramadan.

This event is a special moment, because Alquran is a guideline and guide of life for Muslims. In addition, this event is also clear evidence that the month of Ramadan is a glorious month, as said by Ibn Kathir in his commentary which reads:

“Allah Ta'ala praised the month of Ramadan among other months, namely by choosing it as the month he sent down Alquran al-Azim." (Tafsir of Ibn Kathir, 1/501)

Ibn Kathir's explanation above is an explanation of the word of Allah SWT Alquran surah Al-Baqarah verse 185 which reads:

“The month of Ramadan, the month in which the (beginning of) Alquran as a guide for humans and explanations regarding that guidance and a differentiator (between right and wrong).”

In fact, not just books Alquran which Allah chose to descend in the month of Ramadan. Other books given to selected prophets also occur in the month of Ramadan. The Zabur was revealed on the 6th of Ramadan, while the Torah and the Bible were revealed on the same date, but in a different year, namely the 12th of Ramadan.

Because it is the month of the revelation of the perfect book, Allah also inserts His other goodness in the month of Ramadan which then becomes the specialty of the month of Ramadan. These privileges include granting prayers, multiplying rewards, opening the gates of heaven, and making them full of blessings.

7 Virtues of Alms in the Month of Ramadan

The holy month of Ramadan has been perfected by Allah SWT with a series of privileges and virtues. If we as Muslims live the month of Ramadan in accordance with the guidance of the Prophet Muhammad, then we will get a reward according to what we do.

It is not surprising that the Prophet saw became more generous in the month of Ramadan. The reward that will be obtained from carrying out the worship of the month of Ramadan as well as giving alms will be many times more than imagined. Here are 7 virtues of alms based on the hadith of the Prophet and the words of Allah:

Sins Abolished

Rasulullah SAW said: "Alms can erase sins as water extinguishes fire." (HR Tirmidhi)

Get Multiple Rewards

“Indeed, those who give alms, both men and women and lend to Allah a good loan, will surely be multiplied (rewards) to them; and for them a rich reward." (QS. Al-Hadid: 18)

Wealth Becomes a Blessing

The Messenger of Allah said: "Wealth will not decrease with alms. And a servant who is forgiving Allah will surely add authority to him." (HR. Muslim, no. 2588)

Enter Heaven Through a Special Door

"People donate two treasures in the way of Allah, then he will be called by one of the gates of heaven: "O servant of Allah, come here to get pleasure." If he comes from a group of people who like to pray, he will be called from the prayer door, those who come from the mujahid community, he will be called from the door of jihad, if he comes from a group who likes to give alms, he will be called from the door of alms. (HR. Bukhari no. 3666, Muslim no. 1027)

Free from the Torment of the Grave

Rasulullah SAW said: "Alms will extinguish the fire of torment in the grave." (Narrated by Thabrani, authenticated by Al Albani in Sahih At Targhib, 873)

Heart So Field and Happy

“The parable of a person who is stingy with someone who gives charity is like two people who have armor, which when worn covers their chest to their groin. People who give alms, because of his alms he feels his clothes are roomy and loose against his skin. It was to the extent that his fingertips were invisible and his armor left no marks on his skin. Meanwhile, someone who is stingy, because of his stinginess, he feels every circle of his armor stick tightly to his skin. He tried to loosen it up but couldn't.” (Narrated by Bukhari no. 1443)

Get Shade in the Last Days

Rasulullah SAW tells about seven types of people who get shade on the last day, a day where there is no other shade apart from Allah. One of the types of people who get it is: "A person who gives charity with his right hand, he hides his deeds so that his left hand does not know what his right hand gives charity." (Narrated by Bukhari no. 1421)

The series of alms virtues mentioned above are indeed not only given in the month of Ramadan, but are given by Allah SWT to all of His servants who give alms in any month. However, imagine what if the virtues of the month of Ramadan and the virtues of charity are combined at one time? How extraordinary he is as said in the hadith of the Prophet SAW:

“Surely in Paradise there are rooms whose outside you can see from inside and inside you can see from outside. Allah grants it to people who say good, give charity food, fast, and pray when most people sleep." (HR At-Tirmidhi no. 1984)

For this reason, it will not be a loss for anyone who gives alms in the month of Ramadan, because he will get a lot of goodness and rewards that will be his provision in the afterlife. [DDHK News]
