Minneapolis Police Allow Muslim Police to Wear Hijab

DDHK News, United States - St. Paul, Minneapolis, United States, allows Muslim police women to wear the hijab. The Muslim advocacy group, the Minneapolis Branch of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), welcomed the new policy.

“We congratulate Chief Smith and the St Paul's Department chiefs for creating a supportive environment for Muslim employees. This decision allows more Muslim women to consider careers as law enforcers, ”said CAIR-MN Executive Director, Lori Soraya, in a statement, Sunday (2/3).

Kadra Mohamed became the first Somali-American Muslim woman to join the St. Paul Police Department. He recently completed the East African Junior Police Academy. "This is stressful. I want to be a good example for others, especially Somali women, ”said Mohamed.

Kadra began contacting the St. Police. Paul a few months ago to study to become a police officer. Mohamed was worried that he would not be allowed to wear the hijab. (onislam.net/rol/localhost/project/personal/ddhongkong.org/ddhongkong.org) .*
