The law of reading sholawat up to a million times a day

The law of reading sholawat up to a million times a day

Assalamualaikum. Ustadz, I want to ask a question.

I am now participating in the program at least 1000 prayers a day. And, we are all deposits in the group. There are some of us whose deposits reach tens of thousands, even millions in a day.

How is it legal? Is this allowed in religion?

In the group there was also a short lecture from a cleric about fadhilah sholawat. One of the information given, praying in a state of riya' was accepted by Allah SWT. Is that statement true, Ustadz? And, ask for an explanation from the Qur'an or hadith that states this.

Thank you for the answer, Ustadz.

Greetings, Fulanah

ANSWER:

Wassalamu'alaikum warahmatullahi wabarokaatuh.

Bismillah… Reading sholawat to Prophet Muhammad is one of the highly recommended acts of worship. Allah SWT says:

إِنَّ للَّهَ لَـٰۤىِٕكَتَهُۥ لُّونَ لَى لنَّبِیِّۚ ا لَّذِینَ امَنُوا۟ لُّوا۟ لَیۡهِ لِّمُوا۟ لِیمًا {سورة الأحزاب: }

"Verily Allah and His angels pray for the Prophet. O you who believe, pray for the Prophet and greet him with respect." {Surat al-Ahzab: 56}

Increasing sholawat to the Prophet also has a virtue. Among them is to be the most noble and rightful human being with the Prophet on the Day of Resurrection.

ابن ل اللَّهِ الَ: لى النَّاسِ يوْمَ الْقِيامةِ ليَّ لاَةً (رواه الترمذي)

From Ibn Mas'ud, that the Messenger of Allah said, "The person who is most entitled to be with me on the Day of Resurrection is the one who reads the most prayers to me." (Hadith narrated by Tirmidhi).

As for reading sholawat in large numbers up to a thousand or more, then there is no prohibition in that. But what must be considered is the sincere intention of us. Do not let worldly intentions become the main goal. Because the size of the world is not comparable to the greatness of reading sholawat.

Even if there are people who get the blessings of the world because of certain worship, such as reading sholawat for example, then just think of it as a gift from God and don't believe it as the main answer. Because the hereafter is far more important than the world.

Indeed, there are some scholars who argue that reading shalawat with riya' will still be accepted by Allah SWT. Among them is Imam Qulyubi, as contained in the Book of Sa'adah al-Darain:

ل الطاعات ا لى الملك الجليل مقبولة ل احد ل الة المخلص ا كذا المرائي ا لى الأقوال

“Sholawat is the easiest form of obedience to do and the closest to be accepted by Allah Al-Malik Al-Jalil. Sholawat will be accepted from everyone and in every situation, both from people who are sincere and people who are pious, based on several opinions. (quoted from Kitab Sa'adah al-Darain p. 34).

They believe this because of the noble position of the Prophet in the sight of Allah SWT.

From the opinion above, we can conclude that there is another opinion which says that reading sholawat with riya' is not accepted by Allah SWT. So, we must be more careful in matters of worship and must include sincerity from the heart.

Wallâhu a'lam bish-showâb.

Regards!
