Zakat is just as obligatory as the other pillars of Islam - shahada, prayer, fasting and Haj for those who are able.
Property that is not zakat zakat on or zakat issued will not be a blessing. It also means that there are some rights of the poor (the poor and so on) that we eat too.
In addition, if you are reluctant to pay zakat, you will not only violate Islamic law or deny the pillars of Islam (kufr), but it will also make our sustenance stifled.
From Asma 'bint Abi Bakr, Rasulullah Saw said:
"Do not keep your wealth (without tithing / giving it). If not, then Allah will withhold sustenance for you. "
In the hadith narrated by Bukhari:
"Infaqkan your treasure. Do not count it (save without paying zakat and alms). If not, then Allah will remove the blessing of sustenance. Don't get in the way of Allah's grace for you. If not, then Allah will withhold grace and mercy for you. " (An-Nawawi, Riyadhus Salihin).
Rasul Saw also emphasized, "Alms (zakat / infaq) is not possible to reduce property". If you look at it in terms of numbers, these assets might decrease. But from the side of the blessing it actually increases. After all, Allah SWT promised to replace them with better and more.
