Suggests Erwiana Peace, BNP2TKI Receives Protests from BMI Hong Kong

Christopher De HaanDDHK News, Hong Kong - Erwiana, Indonesian Migrant Workers (BMI) Hong Kong who were tortured by their employers, continue to receive justice support from fellow Indonesian migrant workers, the Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong, BMI organizations in Hong Kong, the media, and even Hong Kong residents. They support Erwiana's case to be resolved fairly.

The Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong has stated its readiness to accompany Erwiana in demanding justice and her rights. This was conveyed by the Indonesian Consul General in Hong Kong, Chalief Akbar, when he received the petition of Hong Kong BMIs during the 'Care Erwiana' demonstration at the Indonesian Consulate, Sunday (12/1).

The National Agency for Placement and Protection of TKI (BNP2TKI) assigned two of its staff to visit Erwiana at the Amal Sehat Hospital in Sragen to see the condition of the victim and handed over cash assistance to Erwiana's father, Sunday (12/1).

The plan is for BNP2TKI to sue BMI's employer, Law Wan Tung, because of his torture on Erwiana.

Director of Complaints Service for the National Agency for Placement and Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (BNP2TKI), Christofel De Haan in Jakarta, Wednesday (15/1) said, "To be honest, we would rather that families take a peaceful path with their employers rather than take a long legal route. In addition to being faster, this effort will also bring benefits to the family in the form of money, the amount of which can be agreed upon through a lawyer appointed by the Hong Kong Consulate General later. "

De Haan's statement immediately received protests from Hong Kong BMIs. Hundreds of comments posted on one of the Facebook social networking groups in Hong Kong stated that Erwiana's case had to be resolved legally and fairly.

"If it is resolved peacefully, then our dignity as BMIs will continue to be suppressed," said Nia, one of the commentators in the statement uploaded by the author. The legal solution is to provide a deterrent effect on the employer so that it is not arbitrary to the kung yan said another commentator.

BMI hopes that BNP2TKI will really provide real protection, defend the rights of BMIs to get justice from Erwiana's case, not the other way around giving advice to make peace in order to resolve Erwiana's case. (Ida / localhost / project / personal / ddhongkong.org / ddhongkong.org). *
