The Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong has stated its readiness to accompany Erwiana in demanding justice and her rights. This was conveyed by the Indonesian Consul General in Hong Kong, Chalief Akbar, when he received the petition of Hong Kong BMIs during the 'Care Erwiana' demonstration at the Indonesian Consulate, Sunday (12/1).
The National Agency for Placement and Protection of TKI (BNP2TKI) assigned two of its staff to visit Erwiana at the Amal Sehat Hospital in Sragen to see the condition of the victim and handed over cash assistance to Erwiana's father, Sunday (12/1).
The plan is for BNP2TKI to sue BMI's employer, Law Wan Tung, because of his torture on Erwiana.
Director of Complaints Service for the National Agency for Placement and Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (BNP2TKI), Christofel De Haan in Jakarta, Wednesday (15/1) said, "To be honest, we would rather that families take a peaceful path with their employers rather than take a long legal route. De Haan's statement immediately received protests from Hong Kong BMIs. Hundreds of comments posted on one of the Facebook social networking groups in Hong Kong stated that Erwiana's case had to be resolved legally and fairly.
