"The Hijab Project is a social experiment," Amara Majeed, founder of the project, says on the website The HijabProject.
“Try wearing your headscarf to school, mall, or any other public place, and observe how people react to you. Are you seen differently? "
Majeed, 16, started his project in an attempt to bridge the gap between Islam and other religions and convey the message of modesty behind the headscarf.
"A bridge of understanding needs to be built between Muslims and non-Muslims," he wrote.
This project invites women to share their experiences with the hijab on the website The HijabProject. “Often times, people think that Muslim women are forced to wear headscarves by male relatives. In Islam, everything is based on intention, ”wrote Majeed.
Launched last December, according to Majeed, the project has made global progress, reaching hundreds of women around the world.
Participating in a social experiment, a Christian school student said, wearing a headscarf made her feel protected and made her have a different perception of Islam.
“At first, I was a little uncomfortable wearing the hijab. My headscarf is too tight and the edges of my vision are covered, ”said the girl who posted a photo of her wearing a headscarf anonymously.
"But as the week went on, wearing a head scarf provided a sense of protection as well as warmth," she added.
Sharing her experience as a woman in a veil, a 20-year-old visitor said: “The most valuable pearl is found under the sea, hidden. Gold is deep in the mining… The best is hidden, so protect yourself, ”he added.
