Prayers on Shafa Hill Starting Sa'i Worship during Umrah and Hajj

In language, sa'i means effort. Meanwhile, the pillars of sa'i that we know are jogging back and forth 7 times between the hills of Shafa and Marwa, starting from the hill of Shafa and ending on the hill of Marwa.

The distance between Shafa and Marwa hills is 400 meters, so the total distance you will cover is approximately 3 kilometers if you go back and forth 7 times.

In various narrations, when the Prophet sallallaahu'alaihi wasallam was close to Shafa hill, he read:

Amen. أَبْدَأُ بِمَا بَدَأَ اللَّهُ بِهِ

“Surely Shafa and Marwah are symbols of Allah's religion. I start the sa'i with what Allah puts first.”

Then he started by going up to the hill of Shafa, until he saw the Kaaba. Then facing the Qibla, recite the monotheism sentence, recite the takbir 3x, then read:

لاَ إِلَـٰهَ إِلاَّ Almighty Allah ى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ، لاَ إِلَـٰهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ أَنْجَزَ وَعْدَهُ وَنَصَرَ عَبْدَ هُ وَهَزَمَ اْلأَحْزَابَ وَحْدَهُ

There is no god who has the right to be worshiped except Allah, the Almighty, He has no partner. To Him be the kingdom and praise. He is the Almighty over all things. There is no god that has the right to be worshiped except Allah, the Almighty, who fulfills His promise, defends His servant (Muhammad) and defeats the enemy group alone.

Then he prayed. He read it (the above dhikr and prayer) 3 times. In the hadith it is said, the Prophet sallallaahu'alaihi wasallam also read in Marwah as he read in Safa.

May it be made easy for us to carry out the sa'i worship as part of the series of Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages.
