DDHK Spreads Ta'jil Iftar Free and Actions to Pick Up Zakat Al-Fitr in Hong Kong

DDHK.ORG - Dompet Dhuafa Hong Kong (DDHK), Sunday (25/4/2021), again distributed free fast-breaking ta'jil food in various locations in Hong Kong. This activity was accompanied by an action to pick up zakat fitrah to make it easier for Indonesian migrant workers in the Land of Beton to fulfill their obligation to give zakat.

The distribution of free ta'jil has been carried out by DDHK since the first Sunday of Ramadan, April 18, 2021. On the second Sunday of Ramadan yesterday, the free ta'jil distribution was held at Victoria Park Causeway Bay, Lok Fu, Wong Tai Sin, Ma On Shan, Yuen Long, Sai Wan Ho, Tai Wai, and Sha Tin.

"We have started the activity of distributing ta'jil to break the fast since last Sunday. We distribute Ta'jil food every Saturday and Sunday during the fasting month of Ramadan, ”said General Manager of DDHK, M. Imam Baihaqi.

Every week, said Imam Baihaqi, DDHK prepared 250 packs of ta'jil food to be distributed. "The contents are sponge cake and dates," he said.

Indonesian migrant workers in Hong Kong welcomed DDHK's free ta'jil distribution.

To support this action, DDHK fielded dozens of members of the SAHARA Team (Friends of Ramadhan) and volunteers. Apart from distributing ta'jil, they are also tasked with distributing zakat, infaq, shodaqoh, and waqf (Ziswaf) among Indonesian migrant workers in Hong Kong. Including, providing a zakat fitrah pick-up service.

From this Ziswaf syiar program, it is hoped that it will further grow and strengthen the awareness of Indonesian migrant workers to always give zakat. Whether it's zakat fitrah, zakat mal (zakat of wealth), infaq, shodaqoh, and humanitarian donations. It is also hoped that there will be an understanding that the wages earned in Hong Kong are not entirely ours. However, there are other people's rights, such as the rights of orphans, the poor, and others. It is also realized that by giving zakat our property becomes holy and a blessing.

Some Indonesian migrant workers in Hong Kong took advantage of the meeting with the DDHK Team who were distributing free ta'jil to pay zakat fitrah and waqf.

The action of giving free ta'jil by DDHK was met with enthusiasm by Indonesian migrant workers. "Thank you to DDHK for sharing ta'jil. I feel happy and happy in this month of Ramadan to get a ta'jil parcel. As there is love and concern for us. Understandably, we are far from family and loved ones. Hopefully DDHK will be more advanced, always trustworthy, and successful, and always willing to help Indonesian migrant workers in Hong Kong, ”said Yulia, a migrant worker from Banjarnegara, Central Java.
