Sudirman: Alhamdulillah, in Hong Kong we can still recite the Koran

DDHK.ORG - Although he often stopped in various countries when he was a sailor, Hong Kong was the first country for Yudi Ja'far Sudirman and his family to settle abroad. In this country, the father of three works for a company engaged in shipping management.

Apart from his busy life as an Indonesian expatriate in Hong Kong, Sudirman, as he is usually called, is active in religious activities. Likewise, her three children were included in the clinic activities Alquran for children organized by Dompet Dhuafa Hong Kong (DDHK).

"We are usually active in religious activities, since in Indonesia. I am grateful that there is DD in Hong Kong who provides an opportunity, so that what we usually do in Indonesia is not much different from what we get in Hong Kong, especially in terms of religious activities, recitation, and religious education for children. Alhamdulillah, in Hong Kong we can still recite the Koran, "he said, Monday (26/10/2020).

Sudirman has lived and worked in Hong Kong since March 2018. His experience of around 15 years as a sailor has given him the opportunity to receive offers at a shipping management company.

“The shipping management company is related to ship management. Automatically, it requires a sailor who is experienced in ship management, ”he said.

Sudirman claims to have been a sailor since 2003. This husband of Tika Novika has stopped in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Qatar and Australia.

"What I am grateful for while living in Hong Kong, as a Muslim minority, there are challenges, especially education and children's social life. Alhamdulillah, we still have mosques and many Muslim communities, so that our backwardness (in the field of religion) can still be actively covered up in those communities, "said Sudirman.

He is also grateful that in Hong Kong the attitude of mutual respect and respect in religious life is quite good. At least, it is far better than countries in Europe where cases of negative sentiment towards Muslims are often heard.

Sudirman also appreciated the da'wah and social movements carried out by DDHK in the Land of Beton. Moreover, many breakthroughs were made.

For example, his activities did not stop with face-to-face restrictions, and immediately switched to online activities. At the same time, it facilitates access and expands the reach of people, both migrant workers and expatriates, compared to activities that were previously carried out face-to-face.

"Online activities are more accessible to our brothers in Hong Kong," said the man from Bekasi, West Java. [DDHK News]
