Show Solidarity, Colorado Women's Soccer Team Wear Hijab

USTeamDons-Hijab-in-Solidarity-with-PlayerDDHK News, United States - Protesting against the referee's decision to ban their colleague, Samah Aidah, from playing while wearing a headscarf, a high school football team in Aurora, Colorado, decided to wear the hijab as an expression of solidarity.

“Wednesday 12 March is our first game. The referee at that time said [Samah Aidah] could not play because of his headscarf which they said was dangerous, ”said Divine Davis, a member of the Overland High School football team, Monday (17/3). "The next day, we all wore hijabs."

The news spread on twitter after Davis posted a photo showing the entire team smiling in their navy uniforms plus headscarves.

The photo was posted with the following tweet, "The referee won't let Samah play with her headscarf so today we all wore the hijab at the #lovemyteam #letsamahplay match."

According to Davis, the picture was taken before the game. "We took this picture before the match and Samah could play," he said.

The headscarf was banned from FIFA competition in 2007 on the grounds that it posed a risk of injury to the head or neck. However on 1 March 2014 FIFA decided to allow headscarves in women's football matches.

The post on twitter drew a wave of positive responses from around the world. Generally, Twitter users appreciate this solidarity and support the acquisition of the headscarf in sports. (mel / onislam.net / localhost / project / personal / ddhongkong.org / ddhongkong.org). *
