#SaveCentralAfrica DD Humanitarian Team Arrives in Cameroon

central african MuslimsDDHK News, Africa - Humanitarian Team Dompet Dhuafa (DD) arrived in Douala, Cameroon, Saturday (23/3) in the morning local time. Douala, a port city and the largest city in Cameroon, is about 237 km from the Cameroonian capital, Younde.

Tim Dompet Dhuafa #SaveCentralAfrica to distribute aid for victims of humanitarian tragedy in Central Africa consists of two people, namely Muhammad Sabeth Abilawa (Indonesia / DD) and Muhammad Idris (Cameroon).

The team plans to stay for a day in Douala to coordinate with the AHAS Association Humanitaire Pour le Development du Cameroon.

"Coordination with local humanitarian NGOs is needed to validly know about the condition of Central African refugees at the border and the needs needed by victims of the armed sectarian conflict," said Sabeth Abilawa in an email release to DDHK News.

The plan is that, Monday (24/03) morning, the DD team will go to the refugee camps in Kenzu and Garoua Boulai, the eastern border of Cameroon and Central Africa. The road trip, which is estimated to take 16 hours, aims to distribute food and medicine aid from the Indonesian people to Central African refugees.

AHAS says that more than 15.000 refugees live in the Garoua Boulai camp and 10.000 in kenzu who have been driven out of their country due to armed sectarian conflict. The camps are just 2 of a total of 5 refugee camps in the Central Cameroon-Central African border region.

They, the majority of whom are children and women, desperately need food, medicine and clean water. Far from home, cut off from livelihoods and natural conditions in Cameroon, which are difficult to clean water, have made the sufferings increased
severe.

UNHCR says millions of children from the Central African Republic are in danger of hunger and malnutrition. The war may still be long, the seizure of the throne between the elite in this black continent only leaves a prolonged suffering for commoners who were expelled and killed because of different religions.

Al-Hafidz Saleh Tom Saleh, President of AHAS, one of the major humanitarian agencies in Cameroon, said that Muslims in Central Africa experienced a massive massacre in December 2013 because of the conflict between the Seleka and anti-balaka militias.

They fled to neighboring countries such as Cameroon, Chad, Sudan and Congo. In fact, the official UN agency also said the events in Central Africa had led to genocide (ethnic cleansing).

“I don't know how much longer the people of Central Africa will live stranded far from their hometowns. If we reflect on the Somali conflict case which has been going on for almost two decades and has not shown a point of improvement for its people who also live in isolation in other countries, then we are just giving up, "said Sabeth.

"So always be grateful, O people of the archipelago, even though natural disasters never stop greeting us. To this day we can still live in the land and drink water peacefully without worrying about the future of our children and grandchildren. And don't forget to share with others. Show that we are a great nation that can also help others even though we are still suffering from grief, ”he added. (amy utamy / localhost / project / personal / ddhongkong.org / ddhongkong.org). *
