Police Name KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri Suspect in Extortion Case

The police named the Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri as a suspect in the alleged extortion case against the former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo. The determination of Firli as a suspect was based on the title of the case carried out by investigators from the Corruption Sub-Directorate, Ditreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya and the Dittipidkor Bareskrim Polri.

"Based on the facts of the investigation, on Wednesday 22 November 2023 at approximately 19.00 WIB in the criminal case holding room of the Polda Metro Jaya a case was held with the results of finding sufficient evidence to name FB as chairman of the Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission as a suspect," said the Director of Criminal and Criminal Investigation of the Polda Metro Jaya Ade Safri Simanjuntak during a press conference at Polda Metro Jaya, Wednesday evening (22/11/2023), as reported by CNN Indonesia.

A number of pieces of evidence were confiscated by the police. Among them, 21 cell phones, 17 email accounts, 4 flash disks, 2 cars, 3 emoney cards, 1 Toyota Land Cruiser car key. There is also evidence in the form of foreign currency exchange documents worth IDR 7,4 billion in Singapore and United States dollar denominations.

In this case, Firli was charged with article 12 e or article 12B or article 11 of the Corruption Law in conjunction with article 65 of the Criminal Code.
